Pointe, Click & Bid for Ballet (abt.org or abt.cmarket.com) This year ABT inaugurates a holiday auction site dedicated to one-of-a-kind gifts ranging from limited-edition photographs and signed pointe shoes to more experiential alternatives. This is where it gets fun: Dinner with a dancer? No problem! Other gifts include the opportunity to serve as a guest stage-manager for the company, a walk-on role during a performance, and studio rehearsal visits. Proceeds benefit the company. Dec 1 at 8am–Dec 15 at 8pm.
Balanchine Variations (University Press of Florida, $24.95) Nancy Goldner’s exceptional book explores the intricacies of 20 ballets by George Balanchine. Working from talks delivered under the auspices of the Balanchine Foundation since 1998, Goldner takes the reader on a ballet journey in this unlikely page-turner.
Alvin Ailey Barbie Doll (Mattel, $37.97) It’s about time! This new doll features a fully posable “pivotal” body (perfect for the young choreographer) and is dressed in the white gown from the “Wade in the Water” section of Revelations. aileyboutique.com
BIP BON T-Shirt (rantingdetails.com, $22–$30) Join the BIP BON movement with this T-shirt designed by former ABT dancer Matthew Murphy. The message—breathe in the positive, breathe out the negative—is of significance to Murphy, who has been diagnosed with the Chronic Epstein-Barr Virus.
Dark Horse/Black Forest (yaniracastrocompany.org, $1,500 and up) Yanira Castro offers an extravagant gift in the form of a sensual private performance that takes place in your bathroom and ends in the shower; a video of the event is provided. To book, e-mail darkhorse@ps122.org.
Dancing Medal (kielmead.com, $199) Kiel Mead, the 24-year-old Brooklyn jewelry designer, has created a gorgeous belt buckle featuring a dancing couple, making it the perfect way to wear your passion around your waist. Don’t freak out: The price includes the belt. Available at Scoop. scoopnyc.com
Opus Arte DVDs (Opus Arte; $24.99, $29.99) Live is best, but since we know ballet tickets aren’t the most affordable thing in the world, Opus Arte offers Alina Cojocaru in The Sleeping Beauty and Giselle, or step back in time for Margot.
